Q&A --- Loud Chick Segment

Meet the Literary Diva
One of the best things to come from The Internet and the “computer software for dummies” movement is the democratization of the mass media --- anybody can publish a book, have a radio show, and even have some type of visual media presence. It’s been amazing, but access doesn’t necessarily mean ease and it has been so great being able to talk to other writers about their experiences in this Publishing Jungle and get some great tips from them on technique and promotion.

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting the Literary Diva of Blogtalk Radio. This Queen Bee of Lit has authored several short stories, poems and eBooks, including “The Secret Life of Girls and Their Sugar Daddies” and Snobby Mommy.” She is also the host of “Diva’s House Feat Literary Diva Talk Radio,” a blog radio show that spotlights literary news from around the world. She was nice enough to allow  me to interview her on her writing, her blog and her Internet radio show.

Q: When did you know that you were a writer?
A:  I’ve always knew I wanted to be a writer since entering school. As long as I could remember I was always creating stories and developing characters. It has always been apart of me.

Q: Can you talk a little bit about your process of writing?
A: The process of writing for me is very straight forward. It starts with the idea of character. Then I build from that character the story. Then starts the prewriting, drafting, revisions (many), editing (many), then of course publishing.  At times the process can be “very” exciting because you are the teaching and the researcher of your own work. So you have the opportunity to learn something new. Again for me it’s something that has become apart of me.

Q: What has been the hardest challenge you’ve faced as a writer?
A: Being a writer you face many challenges. Some of those challenges are publishing, marketing your book, and sales. For me as a writer I love all aspects of writing, publishing, being the reader, and the whole process. As far as challenges; I am blessed in that way. My way of thinking allows me to see opportunities not challenges.

Q: What has been the one moment you’ve had as a writer that has just made you smile?
A: What has made me smile as a writer is the feedback that many readers give to you. Also that your community recognizes you and allows your book to placed in the public library system for anyone to read. That is priceless!

Q: You are also a blogger. What has that experience been like for you?
A: Blogging is fabulous!! It allows you put to your message out there for the world to view. It’s something that you can call your own hands down. It’s an outlet that allows you to put yourself and what you have to offer out, so the world can get to know you or your product.

Q: What one piece of advice would you give a fellow writer?
A: For any writer starting out, the advice for them would be; never stop writing. If storytelling is your true passion never give up. Never put down your pen. Always know that if you want to be in this business it takes hard work and a lot of who you are on a daily basis. Continue to read, and write as often as you can. That alone will give be your foundation as you continue your journey of being a writer.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your radio show?

A: Our talk radio show is a literature base show. We talk about all things that people put in books. We are not just a radio show that “just” does author interviews. We are in the business of informing the people in many ways. It’s one of those things where you have to keep upgrading what you do, and what you say to keep your listening base interested.  We are also in the business of being the outlet to first time authors who need to get their book out there. All in all I love what I do.

Q: How have you found the process of doing your own show so far?
A: The process has been very interesting! It’s a daily learning process without a doubt! I have found it to be soothing and humbling.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about some of your upcoming projects?

A: The upcoming projects that I will be coming up are: 3 eBooks, a memoir, and the show will always be an ongoing project.

Q: What is your favorite book and why?

A: My favorite book I have to say is; “Do You: 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success.” The reason this book is a favorite is that it seems like he’s talking straight to the individual that is reading it. It’s one of those books that I think is a staple on your bookshelf that you can revisit to gain inspiration and motivation to keep you pursuing your dreams all while getting that realistic dialogue about doing the right thing and checking yourself along the way.
